Sports Related Injuries

What are Sports Related Injuries?

Foot and ankle injuries are common in the setting of recreation and competitive sports. Improvements in Early presentation for evaluation allow physicians to better recognize and manage specific foot and ankle injuries, with a primary goal of efficient and safe return to play. The foot and ankle is a complex structure which requires close examination to accurately identify injuries such as turf toe, ankle injuries, tarsometatarsal (ie, Lisfranc) injuries, and stress fractures. Early diagnosis and management of these injuries are critical. Early recognition of injuries is crucial for treatment and longevity of athletes.
